Elsie Barlow (1876-1948) was born in Melbourne and spent most of her life in the Castlemaine area, where she was active in the establishment of the Castlemaine Gallery, one of the best provincial galleries in Australia.)
Elsie trained at the Melbourne National Gallery School (1894-1901) and was represented in an exhibition of Australian art at the grafton Galleries, London, in 1898. She held solo exhibitions in Castlemaine in the early 1900s, and exhibited in Melbourne from 1917, as well as teaching.
Represented: Castlemaine and Bendigo galleries, numerous private collections in Australia.
