Alan McIntyre was born in Hobart and was a painter, critic and art teacher. He took a diploma of fine arts at Hobart Technical College.
A respected art critic and writer, he held a number of solo shows and participated in group exhibitions in melbourne, Hobart, and Launceston. Also exhibited at the Qabtas Gallery in London.
McIntyre was a lecturer Lauinceston Technical College for a number of years, and was the art critic for the Launceston Examiner and a contributor to The Bulletin.
Represented in the NGA, the TMAG and the QVMAG.
